During treatment, the Q-switched laser emits an invisible beam of light that targets the hyperpigmentation on your skin. This safe treatment focuses specifically on the pigmentation you’re getting removed and won’t cause harm to your surrounding skin tissues.
The pigment in melasma and age spots absorbs the energy from the beam of light. This energy breaks up pigment cells in the skin so that they can be naturally reabsorbed and then disposed of by the body. Removing these pigment cells from the skin leads to clearer skin and a more even skin tone.
The laser has a strong advantage over light chemical peels and other treatments that barely scratch the surface. It reaches into the deeper levels of the skin, giving you longer-lasting and more effective results.
You might feel a tingly or slightly burning sensation on the treated areas for anywhere from a couple of minutes to an hour. After this time, the sensation will fade.
