Photorejuvenation uses lasers, intense pulsed light, or photodynamic therapy to penetrate the skin and stimulate collagen production. It can be used on any part of the body and helps rejuvenate aging skin with discoloration.
This is an extremely powerful light that releases light deep into the skin. The wide range of wavelengths used in IPL treatment makes it especially useful for people with multiple skin issues and extensive discoloration spanning the face, arms, or back. Unlike a laser which just uses one wavelength of light, an IPL uses multiple. This also makes IPL therapy less damaging to the skin.
LED photo facials are differentiated from IPl by the procedure used. Unlike IPL which uses a broad spectrum light, LED facials use different colors and wavelengths targeted to the specific skin issue. LED facials use blue light for acne treatment, red for collagen stimulation, and fine lines treatment.
During the treatment in Sudbury, your eyes will first be covered with a protective shield. Before beginning the treatment, a cold gel will be applied to your face. In the case of an IPL treatment, a handpiece will be moved around your skin’s target area. With IPL, you may experience mild discomfort or tingling and with LED treatment, there is no discomfort at all. Once the treatment is completed, a cold compress and sunscreen will be applied to your face.
For best results, there are certain pre-treatment steps you can take. Before treatment, you will be asked to minimize sun exposure and tanning for at least a month before treatment. Alcohol and certain medications like ibuprofen and aspirin are also off-limits for a week pre-treatment. You may also be asked to moisturize regularly use and avoid using topical creams like retinoids on the skin. Inform your doctor about using any blood thinners or prescription medications prior to treatment.
On the day of treatment in our Sudbury office, you will be asked not to wear any makeup or use any skin products.
The Morpheus8 treatment begins by cleaning and preparing the treatment area. Because there is no need for general anesthesia or sedation for this treatment, Dr. Le usually uses topical numbing to prevent discomfort.
Morpheus8 combines radiofrequency and microneedling to transmit heat energy to deeper tissue layers. Adjustable microneedles that penetrate through the epidermis and dermis are used to achieve this. The device has adjustable tips for specific depths. Dr. Le adjusts the depths to address specific types of skin issues.
Dr. Le is able to provide patients with the best possible results because of this tailored treatment in Sudbury. Depending on the area being treated, the total time required for the treatment is usually one and a half hours.
Mild redness and stinging post-treatment are to be expected and will disappear after a few hours. You are also free to apply makeup to the area. The benefits of photorejuvenation include improved and even skin tone and a reduction in fine lines, scars, and brown spots. You may need to undergo multiple treatments to attain your ideal results which will be noticeable after 3-5 months. However, you will notice improvements within a mere week. The duration of the results will also depend on the extent of your skin concerns and the size of the area being treated.
Morpheus8 aftercare is simple, and there is no significant downtime or recovery time. There will be a degree of redness, itching, and swelling, but they are expected to last one to three days. Most patients are able to resume regular activities within a day or two after the treatment.
The price of Laser Skin Rejuvenation/Photorejuvenation Cost varies widely depending on multiple factors, including the number of treatments required to achieve optimal results and the cosmetic or medical concerns you want to address. Contact us today and find out what’s best for you
